Make no mistake, we’re still very much in the thick of flu season. If you haven’t received your flu shot yet, you should make that a priority as it can take a week or two to completely protect you from getting the flu.
Below are nine places you can still go to get a free flu shot.
Surprisingly, the local library is good for more than just books. Many libraries offer free flu shot services to their communities. Depending on your area, these services are likely scheduled and only on certain days and at certain times. Check your town or city library’s website or give them a call to find out more.
County Health Department
Likewise, county health departments often provide free flu shots to members of the community. A lot of times, flu shots at these centers are available on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday throughout the day. Double check with your local health department to make sure.
This one is more obvious. If you’re insured, it’s quite easy to go to your healthcare provider and get a free flu shot. You can also check with local and city hospitals or medical groups to see if they are offering free flu shot clinics at any point. Many do during the height of flu season.
Students are often offered free flu shots through their learning institutions, especially colleges and universities. Check with the medical center on campus to schedule a free flu shot.
Rite Aid offers walk-in flu shot services at any of their pharmacy locations. As with most pharmacies, most insurance policies will cover the entire cost of your flu shot. If you’re insured it will most likely be free here. You can simply walk-in and receive your flu shot without an appointment.

CVS is another great place to go to get a free flu shot with almost any insurance policy. Not only will you get a free shot, but they usually also give you an offer for $5.00 off of a $25.00 purchase when you do. You’ll actually be saving money!
Whichever pharmacy is your go-to, you can probably get a free flu shot there with your insurance. Walgreens is no exception. Like CVS, they sweeten the deal by giving you a $10.00 reward to use on a future $30.00 purchase when you get your shot there. No appointment is necessary.
It’s no surprise that the store that has everything also provides flu shots. Most insurance policies will allow you to get a free flu shot here.
Costco and Sam’s Club
These popular bulk stores also offer flu shot services at locations where they have a pharmacy. Again, this option is free if you have insurance. Though it’s worth noting that if you do not have insurance, Costco offers one of the cheapest shots around at only $19.99. Sam’s Club also offers recommendations on which vaccines are the most appropriate for you given your current health conditions.
